The Billy Galindo Inspiration Award was created and presented to Billy in 2002. At that time, it became an annual award given to an Illinois Valley Central (IVC) High School senior who had overcome adversity and demonstrated the characteristics and qualities that Billy possessed including: community service, leadership and a positive attitude.
Beginning in 2016, the Award become a Scholarship providing financial assistance to the recipient. It is now named the Billy Galindo Inspirational Scholarship. The conversion from an honorary to a monetary award was at Billy’s request; he initiated this with a bequeath stipulated in his will upon his passing to be with the Lord on January 25, 2016.
